Dantex Group has completed the installation of a PicoJet 1200 DRS digital label press at APS Graphics. The move will enable the business to expand its short-run digital label capability.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, PicoJet forms part of Dantex’s established digital inkjet portfolio and has been configured at APS Graphics with four-color plus white, variable data printing and mark sensor capability, enabling the business to meet increasing demand for premium labels across sectors, including brewing, food and chemicals.

APS Graphics, established initially as Advanced Printing Services UK in 2000, has undergone significant transformation as part of a broader growth strategy focused on diversification and digital production. As its label offering developed, the business identified the need for a production-level inkjet solution capable of delivering white ink, higher volumes, and improved cost efficiency compared with toner-based technology.

About APS Graphics

Simon Evers, managing director at APS Graphics, says, “Our label volumes were growing quickly, and customer demand for white ink was increasing. Moving to production inkjet was a natural next step, and the PicoJet gave us the quality, flexibility, and efficiency we needed to scale the business with confidence.

“The addition of white ink has enabled us to expand into new, higher-value applications, particularly for customers seeking increased shelf appeal,” he adds. “Printing onto metallic substrates and combining white with four-color ink and textured varnishes allows us to produce premium labels that help our customers stand out, especially in the brewery market.”

From an operational perspective, the PicoJet has also helped deliver clear commercial benefits at APS. “Compared with toner-based presses operating on click-charge models, the PicoJet offers lower running costs and a wider colour gamut,” states Evers. “That allows us to remain highly competitive while maintaining strong print quality and healthy margins.”

Evaluating the market

APS Graphics selected Dantex following a detailed evaluation of the digital label market. By combining UK-based engineering and manufacturing excellence with Dantex’s global service and support infrastructure, the partnership delivers enhanced reliability, performance, and long-term value.

Justin Nowell, digital director at Dantex, says, “The PicoJet 1200 DRS has been engineered as a true production inkjet platform, designed to support printers worldwide as they scale, diversify, and compete at the highest level. By combining advanced UK-based engineering with Dantex’s global manufacturing, service, and support infrastructure, we can deliver exceptional reliability, performance, and long-term value. Customers such as APS Graphics benefit not only from the technology itself, but from a partnership that provides rapid access to expertise, parts, and ongoing innovation, thereby ensuring their label operations are future-ready and built for sustained growth.”

The installation process was completed quickly and smoothly, with the PicoJet installed into APS Graphics’ expanded production facility and brought into full operation within a short timeframe.
